Terms of Use

Last updated: 18 October 2026

These terms govern your use of the Recelio app and website. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to them. Please also read our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your information.

Who we are

Recelio is provided by Kyle Henry, a sole trader based in Northern Ireland, United Kingdom ("we", "us"). You can contact us at [email protected].

Using Recelio

You must be at least 16 years old to use Recelio, and by creating an account you confirm that you are. Recelio is for personal, non-commercial use. You're responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide and for keeping your login details secure. Let us know straight away if you think someone else has accessed your account.

What Recelio does

Recelio lets you scan receipts with your device camera, uses AI to extract the key details, and helps you track spending and return deadlines. It's a personal organisation tool. It is not a substitute for keeping your original receipts where a retailer requires them, and the return windows shown in the app are a guide, not a guarantee of any retailer's policy.

Accuracy of scanned data

AI-extracted data (store, amount, date, category, return window) and currency conversions may occasionally be wrong. Please check anything important — especially return deadlines — against the original receipt or with the retailer. Exchange rates are for guidance only and may differ from the rate your bank or card provider used.

Free plan and scan limits

Recelio is currently free to use. The free plan includes a monthly limit on receipt scans, currently 10 per calendar month, which resets at the start of each month. We may change these limits in future, but we won't reduce the free plan's limit without letting you know first. We may, at our discretion, give individual users extra scans.

Launch offer

When Recelio launches on the App Store, the first 100 people to create a new account will receive unlimited scanning free for 12 months. Specifically:

Future paid plans

We may introduce optional paid plans in future. If we do, the price and what's included will be shown clearly before you're asked to pay, and payments will be handled by Apple through in-app purchase under Apple's terms. Nothing will be charged without you choosing a paid plan.

Acceptable use

Your content

You keep ownership of the receipt photos and data you upload. You give us permission to store and process that content only to provide Recelio to you, as described in our Privacy Policy.

Third-party services

Recelio relies on third-party providers (including cloud hosting and AI processing) to work. We'll do our best to keep the app running reliably, but we can't guarantee it will always be available or free from errors, and we may need to suspend it for maintenance.

Our responsibility to you

We provide Recelio with reasonable care and skill. If you live in the UK or EU, you have legal rights in relation to digital content and services that are not affected by these terms. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded by law.

Subject to that, we're not responsible for losses that weren't reasonably foreseeable, or for losses caused by events outside our reasonable control. Because Recelio is a guide and you can check every detail against your original receipt, we're not responsible for refunds or returns you miss because a deadline or detail in the app was wrong. As Recelio is a free, personal tool, our total liability to you is limited to £100, except where the law does not allow this.

Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time in the app (Profile → Account & Security → Delete Account), which permanently deletes your data. We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms. Except in serious cases, we'll tell you first and give you a chance to put things right. If we ever stop offering Recelio, we'll give you reasonable notice so you can export your receipts.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time, for example to reflect new features or changes in the law. If a change is significant, we'll let you know in the app or by email before it takes effect. If you don't agree with the changes, you can stop using Recelio and delete your account.

Apple and the App Store

If you downloaded Recelio from the App Store, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies. These terms are between you and us, not Apple, and Apple isn't responsible for Recelio or its content.

Other important terms

If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest will still apply. We may transfer our rights and obligations under these terms to someone else, for example if Recelio is sold, but this won't reduce your rights. If we don't enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of Northern Ireland, and disputes may be brought in the courts of Northern Ireland. If you live elsewhere in the UK or in the European Union, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of the country where you live, and you can also bring a claim in your local courts.
